Students of all ages were enjoying the equipment that arrived today! Thanks to Sahej, Simon, Dallas and Will for helping Brian move the pieces up to the rooftop from the delivery truck. The new play equpment ROCKS!
Our very own Yoshiko Barber has been promoting Montessori -- and our beautiful school -- since her first child was enrolled at our Oaklands campus over 20 years ago. We regularly host groups of Japanese student teachers at Selkirk, and Yoshiko organizes an informative program for them, including classroom observations and hands on experience with the materials. This year, she's taken it to the next level! In November, she had an opportunity to travel to OKU to make a presentation about our school to an even larger group. Congratulations, Yoshiko! You ROCK!!
Friday, November 2nd is Randon Acts of Kindness Day! We hope that our students, parents and staff will be extra kind to each other! Thanks to Karma for creating such a beautiful kindness board.
It was the perfect day for a very enthusiastic group of volunteer parents and staff to tackle a clean-up on one of our favourite play spaces, Ceclia Cove Park...better known as the 'Checkerboard". Ably led by parent Jennifer Jakobsen, the team spent three hours pruning, sweeping, digging, raking and slashing. A great team effort!
We hope you will be able to attend the upcoming Parent Orientation workshop at the school on Tuesday the 18th from 6-8 pm. We will start in the gym with a brief presentation and then move into your classrooms for an opportunity to learn more about the Montessori program, hear what the plans are for the year and ask any questions you have. Our Hospitality Committee always has great treats, too!
