Admissions

We encourage interested families to book a tour of our beautiful facility on the Selkirk Waterfront Development.

We welcome applications throughout the year at Selkirk Montessori School. If you wish to put your child into our waiting pool, please complete the form (see Expression of Interest below) and return it to us.  In January each year, we ask our current families to let us know if they are returning for the next September. We also ask them to register any young siblings at that time. At the end of the month, we are able to put together preliminary class lists and determine what space is available for children in our waiting pool.  In late February or early March, administration will contact waitlisted families (starting with our kindergarten and elementary/middle school students) to determine if they are interested in registering their child/ren for September. Once the child is registered, a package of information is emailed out to the family and payments are due to reserve the space.

Our receptionist will book an appointment for new families to meet with our Head of School, Erin Hayes, or Vice-Principal, Marie Sykes, to go over the Selkirk Montessori Family Handbook. In late August, teachers will contact new parents to set up meetings with them before the start of school.

Expression of Interest Form

Download a copy of the Expression of Interest Form and return by mail. You will need Adobe Reader to access the expression of interest form. (A free version of the Adobe Reader can be found at the Adobe Reader Site.)  Please send completed forms to reception@selkirkmontessori.ca.

Selkirk Montessori Family Handbook

We review the handbook with parents at the time of our first official meeting. It provides information about processes, policies and procedures at Selkirk Montessori School. From time to time, the handbook will be updated to reflect changes or updates.  Take a minute to check out the handbooks below.

Family Statement of Commitment

All families are required to complete a Family Statement of Commitment at the time of enrollment. Partners (home, school, child) in Montessori Education must work together to provide an environment where learning and responsibility are seen as two parts of the equation for success, leading the young people to be the best they can be.  See the full document below.

SOGI Statement of Commitment

The Pacific Montessori Society upholds its commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for all members of our school community, including those who identify as transgender and/or gender non-conforming. Our Board of Directors stands firm in advocating for the rights of every student and staff member to learn and work without fear of discrimination or harassment, and we pledge to actively promote strategies and guidelines that ensure the inclusion, belonging, and respect of all students regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.  Please read the entire statement below.
