Dear Selkirk students, staff, and families:
We know that the last six months have been some of the strangest times we have all lived through. We feel so grateful to have such a strong community to manage this experience together. We hope this plan brings you calm and confidence as we move into this next stage of learning.
Our team has carefully combed through all the documents to ensure that we meet guidelines outlined by Ministry of education, WorkSafe BC, BC CDC, and the public health authorities. In many instances, we have made changes from those recommendations to further enhance health and safety for our students.
We are grateful to our flexible and nimble staff in their reflection and guidance as we have worked through this plan. We are fortunate to have excellent ratios at our school and a number of different perspectives to draw from when making decisions and building protocols for your children.
We also understand that even with all the work that we have done, our families may still have questions. Please do not hesitate to be in touch if you need clarification or need to discuss your specific circumstances. We are here to develop a safe, healthy, enriched learning experience for every child the best we can in this strange year. I have no doubt our teachers will create a wonderful year, not despite the pandemic, but because of it. We will see new strengths emerge, we will see new flexibility is developed. Students will continue to have quality academic learning and build practical life skills that will serve them in years to come.
We feel fortunate to be welcoming our students back into the building on September 8th. Please take close look at arrival and dismissal routines to prepare yourselves for a smooth first day.
We will update the Covid-19 Health & Safety tab of the website as updates and approvals continue.
Erin Hayes, Head of School

We are closed for the summer, but will be keeping in touch with our families over the next two months if we get any updates from the Provincial Health Officer or the Ministry of Education about the reopening plan for schools in September.
