Erin Hayes

Head of School

Head of School Erin Hayes came to Selkirk Montessori as a practicum student from the University of Victoria.  We were delighted that she agreed to join our staff after she received her teaching degree.  In her early years, she worked with every group from Kindergarten/Preschool to the senior class.  She also completed her Masters Degree and coached competitive gymnastics on the side.  We almost lost her to the public system after her first baby but were able to coax her back when her oldest child started preschool.  

Penny Barner

Executive Director

Penny Barner was a parent in the school and chair of the board of directors in January 1998 when the former administrator, Karen Colussi, was dying of cancer.  Karen told her in no uncertain terms that she was going to take over the administrative functions of the school. With a background in public relations, office management and finance, it was a pretty good fit.  For over 20 years, Penny has taken great pleasure in meeting the needs of children and families and supporting our outstanding teachers and staff in their vital work.  

Linda Dombrowski

Human Resources & Facilities Manager

Linda Dombrowski has been working at Selkirk Montessori School for over 25 years.  From the days when she ran the whole office alone, to today with an administrative staff of 5, Linda has been a mainstay at the school.  She has a passion for keeping the students and staff at Selkirk Montessori safe -- making her the perfect person to be in charge of emergency preparedness, health and safety, and repairs and maintenance!  

Trudy Tuele

Accounting Administrator

Trudy Tuele is our Accounting Administrator.  Her dedication and attention to detail have kept us in line financially for more than 18 years.  She's an avid gardener, a voracious reader and enjoys taking her dog, Maggie, for walks around the Selkirk Waterfront.  Maggie is our office pet, and spends her time sleeping or cuddling with the many staff, students and families who come to the office for a visit.

Karma Wolski

Administrative Assistant

Karma Wolski is our Administrative Assistant.  Her energy and enthusiasm for the job seem endless.  She's our 'go-to' person when we have a question or a problem that needs solving.  She is also a parent at the school, with a daughter in grade 5.  In her spare time, Karma loves to volunteer at our book fairs and is also a member of the Selkirk Parent Group.
